This desk went through many revisions before the the one you see here came about.  It started as a standard face-to-face partners' desk, but that doesn't allow for much file storage.  Then we looked at side-by-side, but that doesn't lend itself to sharing a computer - and where do you put the printer and fax?  Since the standard "L" shaped secretary's desk offers lots of storage and good functionality .... why not do a back to back "L" or in this case a "T"?  By having the computer on a swivel, it is a simple matter to turn it to either side and with the printer/scanner at the top of the T, it is easily accessible without even having to move from your chair.  Both sides have two file drawers, each can hold two rows of files front-to-back (letter size) or one row side-to-side (legal size).  Since one never knows what the future will hold, the desk portion can also be removed and doors added in the center making for a large wall credenza.

About the Desk

This desk is made from cabinet grade maple plywood, solid stock maple and tiger maple and tiger maple veneer.  The finish is a custom blended shellac with a paste wax polish.  The ends of the cabinet and file drawer fronts are panel and frame construction where the frame is solid stock maple and the panels are tiger maple veneer.  The drawer fronts and end of the desk section are made from a continuous piece of solid tiger maple.  The computer sits on a  maple "Lazy Susan" with tiger maple edging.
